Heddi's Cardigan nature of adapting is kicking in . Her new family states Heddi barks when strangers at the door & if spooked in the yard , runs to the house . Good news !
Another volunteer tomato that planted itself & grew to produce fruit . Seeds survived the winter from last year's fallen fruit & produced a hardy group , that I will let ripen & save seed .
She went on the carousel & horse drawn hay ride . Talk of her agility & obedience skills in competition with Border Collies ? Well she made lots of friends !
Erin finds a tomato . Retired she deserves a good home . Trouble is at 4 years old , Erin's an old friend , would hate to see her go . Yet she deserves a special forever home , where she is the center of affection !
Last evening Heddi found her forever retirement home . Then as her new owners walked her into her new home , Blair ( her daughter ) sounded the Cardigan alarm ! Heddi bolted , slipped her collar , & bolted off into the dark ! A 6 year old " puppy " lost in miles of unknown woods ! They searched for hours . I joined the fruitless search this morning . It looked bleak . Then a few hours ago , an very tired Heddi was found about 1 1/2 to 2 miles away . She was found at a cattle farm I spotted . The Farmer said his place seemed to draw stray animals . Amazing ! We're all so happy for Heddi !
Heidi's going to spend her retirement with her daughter Blair . Funny she was to have puppies & now will live with one of her puppies . Heddi is a good dog , no bad habits , very laid back , & listens well . Nice family & a nice dog .
Tomates seeds for next year . These are volunteer tomatoes seeds , that wintered over from last years open pollinated tomatoes & sprung up on their own ! One was a large paste tomato , one a mid-sized tomato , & another large cherry . These seeds will produce hardy tomato varieties , resistant to local diseases , & able to thrive in upstate New York's short growing season .
