Stella , not to be out done by Fiona , came into season today ! Butch is eager to be her suitor ! Taking Fiona & Stella to vet to confirm the girls' statious .

Fiona started to go into season , right on schedule . Hopefully will take her & love interest , Copper ( bottom ) to vet in about 10 days , for Cardigan Romance ! A lot can happen but hope for Mother Nature's help !

Corgi ?

With every litter , we receive inquiries for " Corgis " . After several emails exchanges it is discovered " " Corgi " means Pembroke . We raise Cardigans . If you're interested in a great family & farm dog from champion bloodlines , with Mother Nature's help , we're planning a few litters this Spring for approved homes .

Did The Math !

Within 350 mile radius of me there are 70 million people & approximately 20 breeders registered with the Cardigan Welsh Corgi Club of America . Almost half no longer breed , with only about 3 actively trying for Blue Merles .

Now the foolish among us Cardigan breeders trying for Blue Merles , may only get one or two in a litter , sometimes none ! Why ? Genetics . To get a crisp Blue Merle color with sound genetic traits , you can only breed to a Black & White . Some non CWCCA members will breed a Cardigan Blue Merle to a Pembroke , breaking the 1932 rule of mixing breeds , to produce a litter of designer mutts called " Cowboy Corgis " .

You can imagine the reply we get , when we announce a new litter on our blog that has a few Blue Merles ! People have offered more for first consideration . Others get upset to learn , Blue Merles are not produced as if in a bakery . Please blame Mother Nature for selecting whelping time , numbers , & colors , but thank Mother Nature for such a fine breed !

Groundhog Didn't See His Shadow !

In Glenville , we saw Seven's ears ! Hope that means early Spring litters !
