Tried watermelon this year . The yellow varieties are listed as smaller than red varieties , but what the heck . Not sure when to pick . 90 days since I transplanted but weather is a factor too . Heat waves stunted most of garden , could be a factor with melons ?

Jane's in heat & will meet her chosen mate , Copper , tomorrow at the vet's . Science has replaced much of the Cardigan Romance ! Yet George remains hopeful & vies for Jane's attention . George sings his heartbroken song as he waits .
Trouble is if Copper finds True Love ( Jane's in heat ) , it'll " take time & a whole lot of money " ( George Harrison ) . Time ; if Copper makes a Love Connection Monday at vet's , it's 63 days for pups to arrive & 8 weeks before pups can leave . Money ; series of tests pre-AI , AI , c-section , more vet checks , special feed , vaccines , & medicines . IF . . . IF . . . every thing goes well !

Both Seven's pups greeted me with the Woodchuck Stance . The Blue Merle girl got jealous & knocked over the Black & White male . Too many pups to name . 264 over the 20 years ! We let their new homes name them !

The Empire State Building will be lit up for Hubble's birthday ! Grand Central Terminal will run its cars in reverse ! People born in Brooklyn will speak English without an accent ! Well I hope Hubble will settle for a cup cake !

At 8 weeks , if all well , pups will be seeking new homes . Most have been placed in approved homes already . Will show mom & dad to scheduled visitors interested in pups . Poor Butch , litter sire , got in a tussle with Copper & came out second best ! Butch is on the mend .

Made first tomato sandwich from my garden today . My second tomato sandwich will have bacon ! Couldn't wait ! Unlike the tasteless hybrid store tomatoes , that look nice on the shelf & rot before ripen , my heirloom tomatoes ripen full of flavor !
