Spoiled !
Seven insists on her demands ! About every 2 hours , the puppies need to nurse . Princess Seven insists on ; a outdoor run , feeding , & puppies being placed , before she'll nurse ! She does it for the attention ! Once her demands are met , she nurses well & cleans them . Now Seven is trying to climb into the bed in the Whelping Room ? No Seven , that's mine !

Father's Day On His Birthday . . . Almost ?
Took Seven to vet yesterday , again this morning , & will tomorrow again ! Seven almost due to have puppies , because it will be a C-section , timing is important ( & expensive ! ) . Butch was almost a father on his birthday ( today ! ) . Another night for me in the Whelping Room watching Seven !

Caught Second Driveway Rabbit !
So often , just when we're ready to give up . . . success ! Caught second escaped rabbit , that hung around driveway ! When will my animals learn , there isn't an animal more stubborn than a Scotts-Irishman ? Glued Rocky's ears again !

I Think I Saw A Wabbit !
A raccoon invaded my rabbit coops about 2 weeks ago . One by one , I caught the escaped rabbits . Today I caught one of the Flemish Gray adults that visited our driveway . Used a modified wire coop , baited with water & pellets . Now have to develop a trip wire , to work guillotine door without me . Have 2 youngsters loose in backyard !

Millie Finds Agility Trainer !
Elephants & mahouts start training when both about same age . Both live to 60 . Neither takes well to training with a new partner . It's a lifetime bond ! Could same be with a youngster & Cardigan in Agility Training ?

Four !
That's what golfers shout when teeing off . It's also the puppy count the vet gave Seven today ! Looks like Father's Day is Seven's new adjusted due date . Saturday the 13 , we have an appointment & Seven might be ready for a C-section . Should be an interesting litter . Seven's Black & White with bold tan points , dad is a Blue Merle . Something for everyone !

The Bunnies Beat Me Up !
Started keeping rabbits as a food source for one of Kate's Greyhounds . Seems retired track dogs are fragile with health problems . One had a sensitive digestion & rabbit meat was the only food it could keep down . The Greyhound is gone but the blood thirsty rabbits are still here !
Ever see Monty Python fight the killer rabbit ? Well yesterday I had to separate four litters of does & bucks . This requires catching , examining , & placing them in separate cages . To say they didn't appreciate my animal husbandry skills , is underestimating their efforts ! I fought the bunnies & they won !
Mission accomplished ! Does & bucks separated in 8 cages ! They fought bravely but underestimated the will of a deranged Scotts-Irishman ! Today I'll nurse my wounds . The bleeding stopped . Yardword will wait . Maybe do some cooking . Must be glutton for punishment , ordered more rabbit pellets from Chewy !

Record Increases In Feed Prices !
We scream at the gas pumps & grocery stores . . . but now at animal feed & vegetable seeds ! See some seed companies charging $6.95 for 10 tomato seeds ! Pet food $20 more a bag ! Rabbit & chicken feed $10 more ! This really hits the little guy , home gardener , & animal breeders .
Monday will take Seven in for a puppy count . Even vet bills are increasing . We don't charge for labor , bookkeeping , or sleepless hours spent on puppy watch . . . we scratch that off to being foolish enough to raise Cardigans . . . but there is a breaking point . With new regulations aimed at small breeders , what is the future of home gardeners & small hobby farmers ?
I'll keep petting my dogs & hobby farming as long as I can !

Frankie Turns One !

D-Day !
Met several people buying our Cardigans who had folks that served in WW2 . They all had same story . The vets were soft spoken & seldom spoke of the war . One person's grandfather was in the German camp where the " Great Escape " happened !
My dad was drafted at 30 , completed basic training for infantry , found too old & sent back to basic training for tanks ! Because of this he hit Omaha Beach a day later with tanks & Patton . This may have saved his life ! He fought Germans across Europe & then continued to fight Germans when he returned to US . My mom was German !
Called " The Greatest Generation " they graduated from the Great Depression to WW2 . They didn't think we owed them a living . Seldom spoke of WW2 . A fire in the '70s , lost all my dad's service records , but we got a few of his medals . We owe them a lot !
